MIAMI, Oct. 17 (Ticker) -- Dwyane Wade was in midseason form against the
New Orleans Hornets.
Wade scored 19 points and Jason Kapono added 12 as the Miami
Heat posted a 109-105 preseason victory over the Hornets.
The reigning NBA Finals MVP, Wade starred this summer for the
bronze-medal winning American team at the World Championships,
keeping his game sharp. It showed Tuesday as he made 7-of-13
shots and added five rebounds and five assists in just 24
minutes.
Miami trailed, 101-97, with three minutes remaining, but Kapono
scored seven points in the final 1:46 to secure the victory.
The fourth-year forward was 4-of-6 from the floor and grabbed
five boards.
Shaquille O'Neal scored six points and picked up three fouls in
six minutes and Dorell Wright netted 13 points for the Heat, who
shot 49 percent (34-of-70).
Jannero Pargo scored 15 of his 22 points in the final quarter
for the Hornets, who shot 43.5 percent (37-of-85). Hornets
rookie forwards Hilton Armstrong, Cedric Simmons and Marcus Vinicius combined for just nine points.
