Honeybees Spotlight: Christina
By: Hornets.com | July 26, 2011

Hometown: Chalmette.
Year as a Honeybee: Fifth.

Previous dance experience:

I have been in dance school since the age of 2. I can’t say I’ve always been a natural, but it eventually grew on me! I have attended numerous competitions and have been in countless performances across the country. I was on my high school dance team for four years and captain my senior year (shout out to my Mt. Carmel Academy Carmelettes!). I was also a member of the LSU Tiger Girls dance team for one year. The most obvious previous dance experience I have is being part of the best dance team in the NBA for a wonderful and amazing four years! Geaux Honeybees!

What I love about being a Honeybee:

I love being part of such an amazing and talented group of young ladies who balance their everyday lives with the hectic schedule of the NBA, and do it well. I also love entertaining and performing for the fans. It’s such a fun and exciting experience to do what you love in front of thousands of people on a weekly basis. Being a Honeybee is such a rewarding experience, I’m proud to have been a part of this organization for such a long time and to continue to cheer on such a great New Orleans sports team. The Hornets family has done so much for our city, and I’m proud to say I have been a part of that!

What I love about dancing:

Dancing is a passion and for those who have it, know its rewards. No matter how bad of a day you may be having, just bust out a few good, sweat-breaking dance moves and you automatically feel better! Sounds crazy, right? Dancing is a type of therapy… although the older I get the more it hurts, it’s still worth it!

What I love about New Orleans:

NOLA to me, is one of the most eclectic cities in the world. You will never experience anything like it. The food, the people, culture, music, parties… whatever it may be, it’s unique, that’s for sure. There’s never a dull moment in this city and you can never say the words “I’m bored.” There’s always something going on! Actually, most of the time there’s just not enough time to experience it all! The spirit and courage of the people from this city is what amazes me the most. I don’t think any other city in this country can go through what we have as many times as we have and pick themselves up and keep moving forward. It’s inspiring. There’s something special about New Orleans and I’m proud to be a resident of this growing city.

What I love to do when I’m not performing with the Honeybees:

When I’m not performing with the Honeybees, well… I’m usually working my full-time job. But when I’m not doing that, I enjoy reading, shopping, cruising around on my bike, spending quality time with my friends, catching up on TV shows, and most importantly relaxing and being as lazy as possible!
